A Simple Vintage Styled Bridal Shoot

You know you have a REALLY great friend when they agree to model for your crazy/thrown-together idea of a styled bridal shoot. This friend of mine is Colleen! Oh, and did I mention that I made her wake up at the crack of dawn for this?? Colleen, seriously you are the BEST! The gorgeous morning light was absolutely perfect for this quick shoot! I have had the idea in mind of doing a styled shoot after practically drooling over some of my favorite photographer’s styled shoots! Obviously, mine is no where near as elaborate because I threw it together myself and instead of doing a wedding styled shoot…I opted for “a simple vintage styled bridal shoot.” Sounded good to me! I love, love, love details! The small details are one of my favorite things about weddings…it really ties the whole wedding together so perfectly and shows the Bride’s personality and style. Plus details are so much fun to photograph!!

I raided my Grandma’s house and found lots of great “vintage” items like…the awesome lion door knocker, the old books, pearls, and cameo. I also visited my Nana and borrowed some other small vintage treasures! I borrowed the camera from my friend Alyssa. Then it was time to go antiquing! I found the dress at an antique mall in Midlothian, we believe it was from the 20’s! I also found that awesome set of glass bottles at another antique store. Such a great find because I will actually use those to decorate once I get my own place…I LOVE them! Oh…and that side table I found neglected in our garage. I spruced it up from the cobwebs and garage grime it was living in. All the other things like the peacock feathers and whatnot I already owned. I also decided to get CRAFTY! I found the prettiest burlap at Joann’s and made a burlap bouquet for Colleen…it’s one of the crafts I’ve actually made from my Pinterest board!! Here’s the tutorial: Burlap Bouquet Tutorial. I know it looks hard but it’s actually really easy…just make sure to use LOTS of hot glue and you’ll be good to go! I also made her hairpiece.

Okay enough talking…here are the photos! Enjoy!

Love this one! Colleen you are adorable!

Ahh…the light!!

This black & white is one of my favorites!

Of course she had to twirl because the dress had lovely tiers, plus it’s just fun!
